Monterey, Part 1

As soon as we got our rental car, we headed to Cannery Row for lunch. Our first good view of the Pacific.

Our first meal in Cali. was at the Fish Hopper restaurant on Cannery Row. Brandon, of course, had the clam chowder in a bread bowl. It was yummy.  We saw otters, kayakers, and lots of birds from the restaurant windows!

There were deer all over at Asilomar, and they were incredibly tame. You could walk within five or six feet of them and they didn't even flinch.

Dev was pretty excited about the beach.

And there was a lot to be excited about. GREAT tide pools, but we only caught low tide on our first day.

After an hour or so at the beach, Dev let me relax by the fireplace in the lobby.  It was bliss. I read the whole book.

What a difference a day makes! The fog blew out by Sunday and we had sunny skies for another beach morning.

Checking out the views from Lover's Point.

Our last dinner there, we went to the Sardine Factory, which turned out to be a MUCH nicer (and more expensive!) restaurant than the name would suggest. The host was smitten with Devyn and gave us the best table in the house, right next to the fireplace.

We told her it was the princess room.

And she dined like a princess!  More soon.
