Fwd: Dev and porcini

Thanks for letting us have such a fun day. It doesn't seem like she

remembers the porcini you found when she was two. You never know,
right?

We were actually wandering around in the woods today, so I asked her
over and over again to point back to where the trail was. We talked
about how to keep track by the sun. At first, she was getting it all
wrong, but by the end, she was pretty consistently correct. The reason
I'm good at it is that I started learning when I was her age. I also
got to explain the finer points of how to poop in the forest. The
Crazy Aunt, at your service.

Playing Hooky At the Zoo

Friday was relatively cool (only in the 70s!) so we took advantage and went to the zoo — and Daddy took the morning off and came with us!

Devyn said she wanted to start with the giraffes — but the line for the new attraction to feed them was so long, we decided not to waste our morning waiting for them. 

One of my favorite things to do at the Denver zoo is feed the lorikeets.  They're so cute! 

We had a picnic lunch (pretty good barbeque from a zoo restaurant!) and then Daddy had to go to work. After we said goodbye to him, Devyn and I took a spin on the carousel. 

We checked out a few more animals, played in the play area, and then, literally as we were walking to the exit, we saw they were feeding the giraffes again — and there was almost no line.

Excellent.

Mud Puppy

This is Devyn and her new friend the mud puppy, aka dead crawfish exoskeleton in a ziplock bag in a doll stroller. Somewhere, my dad is laughing and saying, "That's my girl!"
